Company History

John Sjaardema, owner and President of Excel-Air Services, Inc. is married to Cheryl and has three lovely daughters:  Andrea, Kim, and Melanie.  John earned his A&P license in 1972 in Denver, CO, and became an active IA in 1976.  For seven years John and his wife served as missionaries for the Christian Reformed Board of World Missions in Nigeria, as mechanic and pilot.  In 1982, after settling back in the United States, John began a new company called New Kent Aircraft Servicing, in Kentland, IN.  After seven years John moved his business to DeMotte, IN.  During the company’s eleven years in DeMotte, it became incorporated under the name of Excel-Air Services, Inc.  On March 1, 2000, Excel-Air moved to its current location at the Jasper County Airport(KRZL) in Rensselaer, IN. John Sjaardema and the staff of Excel-Air Services have been providing quality aircraft maintenance for nearly 25 years.   Please read the testimonials of our many satisfied customers.

Purpose Statement

Our company name describes our purpose.  In the Bible, in Philippians chapter 4, we read these words:  “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”  This, in a nutshell, explains our intent in serving our customers.  Each time we say our company name or see it in print, it is a constant reminder and incentive for us to do just exactly what it says - not just get the job done, but to excel in every aspect of our work.   As Christians, we are serving God and giving Him honor and glory by doing our best in excellence.  This is done out of gratitude to Him for giving us the greatest gift of all, eternal life with Him.  Romans 11:36 says it best.  “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever!  Amen.”
